First Ever Blog

So, a lot of people keep asking when I'll join Facebook, sorry folks, just don't think it's gonna happen. Instead, I've opted to post on a blog in hopes this will help keep family and friends up to date with the Lucas family. Not like every week is "blog" worthy, but hey, it's a start, right?

Where to begin? Is it a bad sign to have writer's block on the first blog? Oh, well, here goes...

Mia tells people she is 2 and a half. She also tells people that she is Princess Fiona from Shrek. My daughter is an ogre or in her 2 yr old voice a "yogur." Mike and I took her to her first movie in a movie theater this past Saturday. We went to see Shrek 4 in 3D. They weren't showing it in regular view anymore and it cost us $21 to see the movie...matinee price and Mia was free. Wowsers. I mean, we were already worried about how she would do and then after forking over $20 for the movie, we started getting really concerned that it would be a waste of $20 if we had to leave in the middle of the movie. But just as Mia always does, she surprised us! She sat with her 3D glasses on, perfectly still, eating her popcorn and watched the entire movie! If she did speak, and it was in a whisper asking "Where's Shrek's friends?" I was so proud of her and very excited that we now have another family activity to enjoy during the overly hot days or the cold winter months. Now Princess Fiona (AKA Mia) wears a crown on her head (even to church) and asks us to speak in our best Shrek voice. Fortunately for me, Mike is better at the Shrek voice...although at times he sounds like he is in the movie Braveheart instead of Shrek. Oh well, still working on my Shrek voice, but Mia appreciates my efforts and that's what matters!

Note to self though, no more 3D for a while...motion sickness in a theater is not my idea of a good time!
